An official round of the UK Speedway Championships will see the Peterborough Panthers take on the Newcastle Diamonds in the Maxxis Arena - If you’ve never witnessed a full-on Speedway race you’re in for a treat. The 500cc methanol-burning single cylinder machines only have one gear and no brakes. Travelling at speeds of up to 80mph on a shale surface the riders powerslide through the turns on full lock, shale spraying out as they try to find grip. It’s a jawdropping spectacle everyone should see at least once – you’ll probably find you’ve become hooked by the end! The Diamonds team feature some of the most talented riders in the championship including Robert ‘Ruthless’ Lambert, fans’ favourite Stevie ‘Supa’ Worrall and their Swedish captain Ludvig Lindgren.

The Panthers rider line-up, meanwhile, features an equally strong team including riders from Denmark, Australia and New Zealand, plus Ulrich Stergaard – the Premier League Riders champion of 2015. The Diamonds will prove tough competition for the Panthers, so expect to see sparks to fly!

Festival campers get in to see the speedway as part of their weekend pass, tickets for day visitors will be available to purchase on the gate for an additonal £16.
